Job Title: Parent Educator

Employee Status: Full-time (35 hours as funding permits)

Description: Parent Educator will facilitate home visits with families who have children ages 0 to 5 and group connection once a month. This will include but not be limited to Early Childhood Education, Parent Education, Parent Engagement and all other community activities as driven by the mission of LPFCC.

Qualifications: The Parent Educator must share in the Family Center philosophy and goals outlined in the policy manual and driven by the LPFCC mission. This individual must be familiar with the community and all early childhood programs, excellent organizational skills and public speaking. This position requests a strong background in Early Childhood Education birth to 5 year olds. Volunteer organizational skills a plus. A BA in Education or closely related field is preferred and /or 5 years experience in Early Childhood Development and/or must be a parent.

Duties:

• Work closely with the early childhood team to maintain fidelity & goals of the program.
• Assist in the Early Childhood programs.
• Facilitate home visits to families following PAT national guidelines for caseload.
•  Maintain database to support grant reports (FRCAForce, Visit Tracker, Oliver, and others as needed).
• Teach parent education classes (Love & Logic, or others as funded) when appropriate & in line with stated grant goals.
• Act as a public relations representative of the LPFCC in the community. Coordinate liaison efforts between Center and community encouraging a positive relationship. Including, electronic newsletter, PSA’s, radio spots and other outreach marketing.
• Fulfill all grant and funding agreements; i.e. travel to meetings, database, reporting and assist Executive Director with grant reports.
• Assist with fundraising opportunities.
• Fulfill all other duties assigned by the Executive Director as needed.

Parents as Teachers Guidelines:

• According to funding, recruit and maintain minimum amount of families, balanced between current PAT educators
• Maintain all fidelity requirements, data bases, and updated trainings.
  • Monthly PAT staff meetings
  • Monthly reflective supervision
  • Monthly Group Connections meetings
  • Appropriate percentage of visits per family
  • Timely health and development screenings
  • Annual PAT survey
  • Annual PAT APR report to PAT National office
  • All other PAT duties as assigned.

Health & Development Screenings:

• Maintain all referral files, equipment and other items needed for administering the ASQ, ASQ/SE, hearing and vision screenings
• Coordinate and provide developmental and health screenings to the community:  ASQ-3, ASQ-SE-2, Hearing (OAE), and Vision Screenings. (Maintain equipment & paperwork for screenings, including OAE, referral forms, etc.)
